Mantle Arts....A Celebration

'Mantle Arts....A Celebration' was an exhibition and showcase event at Leicester Creative Business Depot. The week-long exhibition of some of our most exciting work ran from Monday 23rd February to Friday 27th February and was seen by hundreds of people.

The event featured representations from our main project strands and included:

-'Imagine a City': A series of artistic responses to Leicester's landscape and culture.
-'A Place To Call Home': A magical installation created by Mantle and Mesham's Polish community.
-'HeadSpace Poems': Created as a result of workshops with local adults, led by poet Lydia Towsey and aimed at boosting emotional well-being.
-Images, objects and film from a range of Mantle's projects and events.

A showcase event to highlight the exhibition took place on Thursday 26th February 2009 and was attended by around 100 people, including artists, education professionals, funders and participants. Visitors were treated to music by Shiznitz, an experimental band who have featured as part of Mablethorpe Bathing Beauties Festival.

Community projects

Mantle Community Arts work creatively with people of all ages and from all walks of life; reaching out to groups through working in partnership with a whole range of organisations and venues.

The last session was the first vital step in my learning to read out my own (poetry) work in public in preparation for the publication of my first collection some time next year.
