Aylestone Meadows
Aylestone Meadows
The Spark Children's Arts Festival has been developing several natural play spaces in Leicester. The idea of these is to encourage young people to use the spaces which have been designed to offer opportunities for outdoor, imaginative play.
They asked us to help launch one of these spaces which is at Aylestone Meadows, off Aylestone Road in the city.
On July 9th 2010 at 4.30 on a lovely sunny afternoon a group of local children and parents gathered, along with representatives from Mantle, the Spark, the parks service and the Arts Council. They listened to music from wandering folk group Govannen, took part in games and activities run by Phil Coggins which were designed to start children exploring the site and visited the Boggart who gave out free apples. The afternoon finished with a round dance and everyone went home having had an enjoyable time in the sun.
