In the mid 1980s Mantle Arts’ work focused on oral history. We recorded memories of local people that stretched back to before the first world war. ‘N. W. Leicestershire Voices’ is a project, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, that will return to these recordings, preserving them via digitisation, and use them in a range of projects to make this archive of local history more accessible. This will include three exhibitions, installations or displays, a series of CDs, a podcast, schools workshops, and a new series of oral history recordings.
