In 1996, in partnership with NW Leicestershire District Council, Mantle Arts commissioned artists to work with various community groups on its first ever public art project. The result was a series of mosaic panels depicting details of the history and life of Coalville. These can be seen on key buildings including the library, health centre and Market Hall. In 1997 a feature for Ibstock village was also created.
